Insurance for RFU clubs, players and staff

Howden is the official insurance broker for RFU Clubs. We are here to help clubs, players and staff make rugby safe for everyone - both on and off the pitch.

As well as information on the insurance provided to you as part of your RFU registration, we offer other insurance at preferential rates, and digital tools to make risk management initiatives easier (and help you save money on premiums, too).

Players

The RFU provides individual players with public liability and personal accident insurance

Clubs

The RFU's Combined Liability policy protects against third party claims, with access to preferential rates on property and travel

Coaches

RFU coaches are protected by Public Liability, Professional Indemnity and Personal Accident insurance

Referees & match officials

Referees, touch judges and trainers have automatic Public Liability, Professional Indemnity and Personal Accident cover

Medical personnel

Medical Personnel are only covered for Good Samiritan Acts and First Aid within the RFU policy.

Non-affiliated teams

Where member clubs play non-member clubs, Personal Accident coverage is provided under specific circumstances

Schools, colleges and universities

Education providers have some Personal Accident coverage, but otherwise are required to arrange their own insuance cover
